Samantha Sapien

Breeding Intern

Samantha Sapien is FFF’s first ever intern. She is originally from El Paso, Texas where her love of horses started with an Arabian mare named Sephira. From there she began showing Arabians (and a half Arab half Paint called Magic) across disciplines at various levels of competition. She joined FFA (Future Farmers of America) when she was 15 and competed in Horse Judging at several CDE’s across the state during her high school career.

She comes to us now from Ireland where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science – Equine. She plays Polocrosse in Ireland at a collegiate level (position 3 is her favourite as its most like goal-keeping). She also plays on her college’s lacrosse team. She played for the Irish national lacrosse team in 2016 as Keeper and was named as one of Ireland’s top goalies.

Sam is highly organized, and you can often find her updating files, writing on the whiteboard or just generally putting things in order around the barn. She helps out in anyway she can and does things like grooming, bathing and groundwork with our foals and horses. Her main interest on the farm is herd health, so she enjoys working with Dr. Espy and the horses he attracts to the facility, and takes a huge interest in breeding, foaling, nutrition and general year-round vaccination, deworming and dental upkeep.  You can find her pretty much anywhere accompanied by her Service Dog, Caoimhe (aka Kiki) and a large assortment of wildlife that our local ‘Snow-White’ seems to attract.
